Introduction

This index was prepared with the help of members of the Highlands Ranch Genealogical Society, Highlands Ranch, Colorado. We would like to thank the following people who helped with the extracting of names: Ronnie Jakubiak, Norma Turner, and Bonnie Wright.

In addition to indexing surnames, referred to as people names or surnames, we have included, as a group, referred to as categories or category names: businesses, cemeteries, churches, church ministers, Colorado place names, creeks, ditches, doctors, Douglas County, farms, floods, forts, gulches, military, mines, mountains, newspapers, organizations, parks, passes, postmasters/mistress, post offices, railroads, ranches, reservoirs, residences, rivers, roads, school districts, school superintendents, school teachers, schools-pre, schools, subdivisions, trails, transportation, unions, and universities/colleges.

Because of the difficulty in determining what some of the people’s surnames were it is possible we may have given some an incorrect name. We apologize for any mistakes.

The book, Our Heritage: People of Douglas County, Colorado, is available at libraries in Douglas County, Jefferson County, Aurora Public Library, Denver Public Library and possibly other libraries in Colorado.
