Special Interest Groups

We are pleased to offer the following Special Interest Groups (SIGs) to help members further their research. Most will be held on Zoom, so you can attend from anywhere. To join any of these groups, send an email to education@columbinegenealogy.com.

The SIGs are a benefit of membership. If you are not a member, become a member at the Columbine Friends Corner website. You can pay by credit card or check. Cost-wise, it’s a deal!

Many of these classes are videotaped, and can be viewed by members here.

♦ Genealogy Do-Over/Go-Over -Zoom

In March 2025, Thomas MacEntee dazzled us with an hour of things we could do to refresh our research. This new SIG will look at the multitude of items in detail. We will meet monthly to discuss our efforts to Do-Over (or Go-Over) our research using the chapters of MacEntee’s Book, Genealogy Do-Over Workbook. We will attack this challenging task cheerfully and thoughtfully while encouraging each other. This book is available on Amazon.com.
The class is held on Zoom the 4th Monday of each month at 10 a.m.

♦ Learning to Use Your Family Tree Maker Software -Zoom

We are using the FTM Companion Guide and covers a chapter per month. The concept of this class is that we teach each other. This is a great way to learn how to use your FTM software. Please have your FTM software loaded onto your computer before we start the class.
This class is held via Zoom at 10 a.m. MDT on the 4th Thursday of the month.

♦ Deeds/Property Records, and Early Church Records -Zoom

These two special interest groups have been combined into one. It takes an in-depth look at and hands-on approach to finding land records and church records in the America’s earlier time periods. We will be using the card catalogs of Ancestry.com and FamilySearch.org to find church records.
This class is held at via Zoom at 10 a.m. MDT on the 1st Monday of the month.
