History

Includes historical information about town or cemetery. May also contain legal information.

Maps

Includes one or more maps of cemetery layout.

Tombstone Inscriptions

Published information comes primarily from the reading of tombstones but other supporting information may have been used.

Burial Records

Published information comes from burial records that could have come from registers kept by the cemetery, caretakers or other sources.

Graves Registrations

Generally associated with veteran’s graves. Most likely came from Colorado State Archives files.

Alphabetical

Presentation of information is in alphabetical order.

Block/Lot/Grave

Presentation of information is by cemetery plot layout. Could also mean tombstones were read and presented by row or some other non-alphabetic order.

Index

Means an index of cemetery residents is included.

Place Index

Means an index of places found in grave or burial records is included.

Plot Owners

Means names of plot owners are contained in the document.

Biographical Sketches

Means biographical sketches are provided on some of the cemeteries residents.

Obituaries

Means some obituary information was included in the document.

Funeral Homes

Means a list of funeral homes was included in the document.

References

A bibliography or list of references used in the document was included.

 

 

Example 1:

 

Location, History, Maps, Burial Records, Block/Lot/Grave, Index, Plot Owners

The location is provided using maps, address or other directions. A history of the cemetery is included and cemetery maps show the layout of the cemetery. The publication consists of information derived from burial records and is presented in a block/lot/grave (non-alphabetical) format, but the publication includes an index. Also listed are plot owners.

 

 

Example 2:

 

Location, Maps, Tombstone Inscriptions, Alphabetical

Location information is provided. There is one or more maps of the cemetery. Information primarily comes from tombstone inscriptions. The material is presented in alphabetical format, probably accounting for no index.
